National Asbestos Awareness Week 2024
25 November - 1 December
This year’s National Asbestos Awareness Week (NAAW) campaign reminds Australians that Asbestos can kill, urging all Australians to beware of ageing and deteriorating asbestos, particularly as the summer season approaches, and home renovation projects kick off.
Despite a complete asbestos ban more than 20 years ago, an estimated one in three homes across Australia still contain asbestos. These asbestos-containing materials are now between 30 to 100 years old and are deteriorating, including the matrix to which the asbestos was bonded. The older they become, the more likely they are to release harmful asbestos fibres.
The campaign materials aim to encourage homeowners to respect the risks, know the facts and seek expert guidance before tackling a project in the home that may contain asbestos.
The campaign pack provides a range of materials for organisations and individuals to use. Design files are also available for you to insert your own logo.
Our aim is to promote the use of recognisable imagery and consistent messaging to improve awareness and prevent exposure to asbestos fibres.
If you have any questions about using the pack or need assistance, please contact communications@asbestossafety.gov.au.
