Case study five: Thuroona Services - A complex removal process

Western Australia's Public Transport Authority (PTA) engaged Thuroona Services, a 40% Indigenous-owned removal company, to remove asbestos from a historic steam locomotive that is displayed in the car park of one of Perth’s most central train stations. Thuroona thought through every aspect of the process in minute detail to ensure the safety of its workers and the general public. Thuroona demonstrate best practice in this case study by using state-of-the-art equipment and putting back-up measures in place at every stage of the removal process to be absolutely sure that not a single fibre would be missed.
